GEOG UK TRIP (28Nov to 9Dec)
it was totally awesome!
my first time going so far away haha.
i shall finally get down to blogging what i can rmb from this trip.
really thankful for the great comapny- Athalie, Doreen, Juvenal and Matilda.
i got to know them better (:

the weather was freezing cold!
had to wear layers and layers of clothes.
once we reached the Heathrow Airport, we were quite fascinated with blowing smoke out of our mouths.
anyway the plane ride was reallyyy long and there were no nice movies.

stayed one night at our first travelodge
and visited the Roman Baths and some limestone cave the next day.
we bought a huge Dora the explorer balloon for juvenal cos it was her birthday!

next was the journey to the FSC at Nettlecombe for our field study.
the bus ride was nauseating arghhh.
anyway while we were there, we learnt field work techniques and everything.
like walking around suburbs, standing there for 5 mins to count traffic and pedestrians, measuring speed and width of rivers, measuring slope gradient etc.
i'm so glad that the 5 of us did the fieldwork tgt, it made it more fun hahaha.
the packed lunch got pretty boring after a while -.-
i guess we couldnt wait to get out of that place.
plus i don't fancy wearing wellies at all.
i only miss the steaming hot water we bathed with hahahah!
on the bright side, there was internet access there!
and we got to see some lovely scenery and the weather was really nice when we did our rivers and slope study, no rain!
pity we didnt get to see snow...there was FROST though.

paid a visit to Queens College.
our buddies were really nice hahah.

umm they're bigger than us though they're our age.
their school is like ten times bigger than ours.
and hahah, the guys there were probably a hundred times HAWTER than the guys here.
i felt like i was in Hogwarts or sth when i stepped into their school.
its just a feeling lah haha.

and we also visited Oxford University (:
it was like a huge maze.
ummm then had this London city tour.
visited Big Ben, London Eye, Buckingham Palace etc.
i just wish we had more time to shop hahah.

during the free and easy day, Athalie's aunt brought us around (:
went to Portobello, Camden Town and Covent Gardens
ummm these places are mainly for shopping hahaha.
Covent Gardens sounds misleading, cos it sounds like park kinda place but actually its a shopping area x)
ohyes, the shops close reallyyy early in London -.-
it gets dark at around 4.30pm? yeahhh.
and we went into an authentic London apartment, coooool man!
cos Athalie's aunt lives there (:

dinner was at some Iranian restaurant.
hmmmm the food was exotic.
and since it was our last night in London, we stayed up until very late and even went to the convenience store past midnight!
and party-ed in the room hahaha!

when i came back to Singapore, its like freaking HOT.
I MISS LONDON AIR!

overall it was a fabulous 12 days spent with the geog people (:
the teachers are pretty funny too : D
esp ms seow's laughter!

i was craving for fried hokkien noodles throughout the journey hahaha.
ohyes and there was this incident on one of the nights.
we had to settle our own dinner so we went to some pizza place.
ummm it was a nice restaurant and all and we didnt know if we should give tips
so we paid the bill, left 2 pounds as tips and ran out of the place hahah.
it was kinda...weird x)
oh and Chinatown was quite a scary place.
it was so crowded and i felt a little out of place.

i had my first experience of taking the tube too!
matilda seems like a local when she's on the tube hahaha
and it was pretty squeeeeeezy.
i think my biggest regret is not buying this topman shirt thats cheaper in uk ppffffttt.
ummm yeahh tawan taught me how to sing the chorus of womanizer HAHAH.

i miss Juvenal's Granny Panties!
and thankyou Athalie for tolerating my snoring and sleeptalking heh x)

now i know what jetlag is like.
been tossing and turning in bed for the past few nights.
only fell asleep at around 3-4am.

CHALET
it is really a night to remember.
my first time going night cycling.
nearly died.
i was so gross and sticky after that and i totally didnt sleep at all.
anyway we decided to cycle from pasir ris park to east coast park.
not even halfway there, i was damn tired alrdy.
but we still persevered on and jayride-d across expressways, went over countless of overhead bridges, cycled past millions of dark park connectors and got kinda lost in bedok reservoir.
after 4-5 hours of cycling, we reached ecp macs.
ummm half dead.
then there was the cycle back to the chalet. which wasnt as bad. haha.
thank God for maps and no rain and the energy to cycle to and fro.
the roads were so empty manszx hahah.
and i cycle until my butt hurts.
STILL, I AM SO PROUD OF US FOR SURVIVING THE JOURNEY!
but i'm not going to try night cycling again anytime soon x)
